Weekly Portrait – 7.14.11

I find the process of taking pictures of people I know the most artistically challenging and rewarding. I challenge myself to capture “truth” about my personal connection with the subject. Most of the time, I find these opportunities outside of the organization of the session. It is often during the movement between one pose or another, or ironically when the organized photo shoot is complete and I am quietly walking around with my camera.
When I get that shot…the one that tells a story…the one that connects…SWOON!!!!!
This weeks portrait was taken at a friends’ 4th of July party. It was during an impromptu music session that I found that moment with her father. He had no idea I was photographing him at the time. It was my SWOON moment of the day.
